Chianti & Gelato - Italy
Not that I'd recommend having these Chianti and Gelato at the same time- but they capture my memory of Italy and trigger the visual images of people shaking the soft silvery olive trees, laden with green and black olives. And remembering how the tall spires of the cypress trees aligned along the hill tops behind stone buildings with red tile roofs. There are beautiful and ancient villages dotted throughout Tuscany with local wineries that make the most fabulous wine. They also make grappa that is (initially) so full of fire only to be followed by an aftertaste like roses. This is so unexpected that you have to have another taste just to be sure. (Needless to say the photographs aren't too good after grappa tasting... ) The pictures below were taken before imbibing the grappa.
